That’s right. The Fotonovel is back.
What are Fotonovels, you ask? They were these popular series of books that were released in the late 1970’s and early 80’s that focused on current movies and TV shows, in a graphic novel style format. They contained hundreds of pictures from a film or television episode with the dialogue presented in word bubbles.
Some of the movies published in Fotonovel format were Rocky, Buck Rogers, Heaven Can Wait, Grease, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, etc…
A bunch of the original Star Trek episodes were also published as Fotonovels.
These books were the only way to revisit your favorite film and TV episode back then. But once the VCR came along, the Fotonovel fell out of popularity.
Well, everything old is new again.
So for the first time in years, we have two new Fotonovels to enjoy. The first is an adaption of the 1928 Disney short, “Steamboat Willie.” This was Mickey and Minnie’s first ever appearance on screen.
And the second new Fotonovel is an adaption of the George Romero 1968 horror classic, “Night of the Living Dead.”
Both have a retail price of only $14.99.
