Chris Pratt served as host on Saturday Night Live’s 40th season opener last night (Sep. 27, 2014). As always, the show was pretty painful to watch. In terms of cutting edge comedy, SNL is far behind the times and stuck in some kind of vanilla factory. It’s too safe and catered. The show needs a shake up from top to bottom, and then, and only then do I believe it could turn into something magnificently hilarious. It needs to lead the way once again. And, yes, of course they hit gold from time to time. If they didn’t, the show wouldn’t still be on the air. But let’s face it, the bad does outweigh the good.
And I really do wish the actor’s would stop reading off the cue cards. It’s terribly distracting and gets in the way of the attempted humor. I’m aware that lines change all the way up to air, but they’ve got to learn them.
Okay, gripe over. Why am I here? Oh, yeah. They did a Marvel Parody last night. Included some “Star Wars.” It made me chuckle. Like I said, they do occasionally get it right.
