Disney/Lucasfilm have released the first trailer for the first “Star Wars” stand-alone film entitled “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” What’s it about you ask? It was all in the opening crawl of “Star Wars: A New Hope.”
“It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire’s sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy….”
So “Rogue One” is the story about those Rebel Spies who stole the Death Star plans that were eventually passed on to Princess Leia. The film takes place immediately before we meet our favorite intergalactic heroes for the first time.
Starring in the film are Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, and Alan Tudyk. Gareth Edwards directs.
It’s a cool trailer! Classic “Star Wars.” Once again, can’t wait until December. And if you’re a true “Star Wars” geek, you’ll notice that Mon Mothma makes another “Star Wars” appearance.
