Another week came and went for that everlasting Timelord known only as ‘The Doctor.’ This weeks episode of “Doctor Who” had the Doctor facing off with that legendary thief of the forest himself – Robin Hood! Oh yeah, and his merry men.
But Robin Hood is only fictional right? And as fictitious as the Doctor himself may be (heresy, I know), he only crosses paths with real historical figures. So what gives? Well, that is a question that the Doctor himself asks throughout the episode.
As for my mini-review, I didn’t find this episode all that interesting. I feel as if they are still finding their footing with the new Capaldi Doctor. But I hear the next few episodes are much stronger. I certainly hope so. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll still take weak “Doctor Who” over no “Doctor Who.” And it’s one of the few shows that I still find myself looking forward to. And I want to keep it that way.
There just wasn’t anything special with this whole Robin Hood motif. And mix in killer robots with an agenda. Been there, done that. The interaction been the Doctor and Robin Hood was interesting but I didn’t feel as if the whole thing lead up to very much. There wasn’t anything new or exciting about it. Nothing terribly creative or original. It just kind of felt as if they were treading water. I think you get the idea. I want my “Doctor Who” episodes to be re-watchable, not just one-offs.
One interesting note is something that Robin Hood said to the Doctor at the very end of the episode. It was just a bit of a throw-away line, but I think we learned something new about the Doctor that we didn’t know before (or at least I didn’t). It’s just a minor detail but you’ll have to watch the episode to find out what that was.
So here is the third episode of “Doctor Who Extra” followed by the preview for next weeks episode entitled “Listen.” So watch!
