“The Dukes of Hazzard” ran on CBS from January 26, 1979 to February 8, 1985. It was inspired from a 1975 movie called “Moonrunners.” Both were created by Gy Waldron.
The show took place in fictional Hazzard County, Georgia and focused on the adventures of cousins Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat) and their never-ending run-ins with corrupted county commissioner Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) and his crooked sidekick, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best). Along for the ride were their Uncle Jesse (Denver Pyle) and the girl with the shortest of shorts, Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach). Oh, and let’s not forget about the General Lee, their 1969 Dodge Charger stock car.
So thanks to an AutoTrader.com commercial, Bo and Luke live again. Tom Wopat and John Schneider reprise the roles that made them famous. And once again, they are on the run from the law, while driving one of the most famous cars in TV history, which (Spoiler Alert) gets a bit of an upgrade at the end.
So I now present the two minute video (okay, commercial) showcasing their action-packed return, followed by an almost five minute “Making Of” video. And how can I possibly not include the opening theme to the show as well?
But I don’t stop there. I thought it would be a good time to post yet another vintage script from the good ‘ol times of television. What I have here is a script from season two of the show entitled “Jude Emery.” I’ll post the details below.
No time to waste. Let’s get in Hot Pursuit of them Duke Boys!
