My Trip to Superman Day at Warner Bros. Studios

On April 18, 1938, Superman was introduced to the world in Action Comics #1. On the cover was an image of Superman lifting a car over his head. From that point forward, writer Jerry Siegel’s and artist Joe Shuster’s creation of Superman has become a world-wide phenomenon.

Superman has been adapted into radio programs, books, movies, TV shows, theater productions, and video games. And on April 18, 2025, Warner Bros. celebrated the character by giving him his own day. Celebrating the 87th anniversary of the characters first appearance, Warner Bros. held a special event at their studio for fans of Superman.

Included was a special one-hour tour dedicated to everything Superman and the overall DC universe, followed by a reception outside their theater, where folks could eat and mingle. After that, they held a special screening of the classic Christopher Reeve 1978 film “Superman the Movie.”

Making a special appearance at the reception was CEO of DC Studios, and writer and director of the new upcoming Superman Movie, James Gunn.

Also in attendance, and signing autographs, was President, Publisher, and the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, Jim Lee.

Jim Lee later joined TCM host Ben Mankiewicz on stage for a short introduction before the “Superman the Movie” screening.

I haven’t seen “Superman the Movie” on the big screen in quite some time, but I have to say, the film presentation looked fantastic. And it was the best I have ever heard the film sound. The movie still stands up to this day as one of the best superhero films of all time.

On Display in the lobby of the theater were various costumes from the film, including the iconic Superman suit.  After the movie ended, everyone was ushered to another area at Warner Bros. where they had costumes from the new upcoming Superman film on display.

Also available for viewing in that same area were many other superhero suits and vehicles from their various DC properties.

Below you’ll find many pics from the event, along with a video, which includes the full introduction by Jim Lee and Ben Mankiewicz.

The new Superman movie, starring David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, releases on July 11, 2025.
