A Million Ways to Die in the West Huge Cameo Spoiler

poster-for-a-million-ways-to-die-in-the-westFirst off… SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!

And if you didn’t get it the first Ten Times…

SPOILER!  ALERT!

Okay, I just came back from a screening of “The Amazing Spider-man 2.”  What did I think?  Less than amazing.  But I’ll save that for later.  I’m here to talk about the new trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West” that played before the movie and the surprise cameo that laid within.  I’ve already done the spoiler alert warning so here you go…

I’m sure somewhere on the net this has been mentioned previously but it was the first I’ve learned of it and I suspect the first time it’s been added to the trailers for the film.  There is a scene where MacFarlane’s character see’s a bright flashing light coming from a barn.  As he walks over and opens the barn doors. he finds none other than Doc Brown (again played by Christopher Lloyd) quickly trying to cover up his DeLorean Time Machine.  Obviously this is a nod to “Back to the Future III” where Doc Brown and Marty McFly are trapped in 1885.  And if you want to get geeky technical, this film takes place in 1882.  But I don’t think accuracy really matters here.

back-to-the-future3-sniperIt was great to see Christopher Lloyd in his Doc Brown persona, even if it was for just a split second. And it did have me craving more “Back to the Future” goodness, but I know that Robert Zemeckis doesn’t have any interest in continuing that franchise.  And I can’t really blame him.  Why touch perfection?  But it is inevitable that someone will get their hands on these films at some point and continue them in someway — someday.  But it just won’t be the same.

BTTF_Marty_Doc_remoteWhat is interesting, though, is that they did produce a fourth film in a way.  Telltale games produced a “Back to the Future” video game with a pretty interesting and detailed storyline.  I was surprised that it played very much like a fourth film in the franchise.  And I have to tell you — it was really good.  I would have loved to have seen a live action version of this.  But the game did come pretty close.  It has been out for a few years now.  Here’s on old trailer to chew on.

Anyhow, getting back to “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” I will make the logical assumption and say that what I saw in the trailer will most likely be the length of the cameo.  It’s not meant to be anything more than a quick nod to those films.  And not many people do pop culture references better than Seth MacFarlane.  His “Family Guy” is littered with them.  In any case, I find myself really looking forward to this film.  I found his previous film “Ted” to be absolutely hilarious and I suspect this film will be on par.

So if you have no idea what the movie is about, why tell you?  I’ll show you.  Here’s a couple of trailers.  If you’re a tad sensitive, go for the Green Band Enjoy!
