The CW just released a trailer for next year’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” a spin-off from both “Arrow” and “The Flash.” It’s a bit SPOILERY (as is possibly this article) so you’ve been warned. But I’m sure you’ll watch it anyway. I know I would.
The official synopsis goes like this…
“When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).“
Clearly Ray Palmer survived the explosion at the end of “Arrow’s” season 3 finale. As for how they brought Caity Lotz’s Sara Lance back from the dead? As the new trailer shows, it was with the help of the Lazarus Pit. I think when they announced she was returning for this new show, most of us probably figured this is how they were going to bring her back. Then again, I guess they could have had her play a different character, but that would have been a bit contrived as opposed to, say, dunking her in water that resurrects people from the dead. I’ve got to find me some of that water for when my day comes.
Vandal Savage appears to be the big bad in the show’s first season (or at least first episode). Who is Vandal Savage you ask? I’m going to borrow from Wikipedia:
“Savage is immortal, and has plagued the earth with crime and violence since before the beginning of recorded human history. He is a brilliant tactician with immense technological prowess. He is one of DC’s most persistent villains and has fought hundreds of heroes throughout history.”
I’m glad to see that Arthur Darvill (Rory from “Doctor Who”) is on this show. I think he’ll be a great edition. And I love that he’s playing a time traveler.
The show doesn’t premiere until 2016. Yeah, I know. That’s a long wait. But I’m sure it will be worth it. And I have no doubt this show will be a hit, just like “Arrow” and “The Flash.” Love the crossovers!
Tons of superheroes on TV next year. Me likey! Okay, enough blabbering. He’s the trailer followed by a ton of screenshots.
